Artist Statement: In the second piece of the series, I was inspired by rubber house cartoons of the '30s and '40s which were also times baseball was at a crossroads. The glove is one of the most important parts of baseball, and I wanted to create a Bluto-styled "tough guy" character based on the baseball glove. This represents the lifetime toughness of the humble glove as well as the game itself. Even through some of the most difficult times, the game remains a tradition and method to bring family and friends together.
